2021 Spätburgunder trocken, Rheingau, Germany

Rather warm, somewhat malty nose of ripe fruit, more black than red, with smoky and a little roasted barrel notes, dried vegetable tones and a little wild mushroom and bacon. Quite tart, ripe juice in the mouth, smoky, clearly rooty and again slightly mushroomy and bacony notes, crumbly-sandy tannins, good persistence, relatively high strength, warming alcohol, also cooling ethereal nuances, very slightly juniper-like, again a little malt in the background, meaty and salty tones, good to very good, very slightly drying finish.
