The traditional winery, which has been run by the same generation for many decades, is located in the municipality of Hochheim on Frankfurter Straße in the German wine-growing region of Rheingau. It was rebuilt in 1965 at its current location and equipped according to the latest technical and business management findings. In addition to winegrowing, a newly built "country house" with a vinotheque was put into operation in 2002. Here, company events, gourmet weeks, cabaret and comedy performances, as well as musical and literary wine tastings are organised. Today, the farm is run by Pia Rosenkranz, the third generation of the family to do so
The vineyards cover nine hectares of vineyards in the single vineyard sites Hofmeister, Hölle, Kirchenstück, Reichestal and Stein (Hochheim) on south-south-western slopes with predominantly chalky subsoils. They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling (85%), Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Roter Riesling, as well as with the red wine variety Pinot Noir. Sustainable cultivation with a high ecological spread, for example through species-rich cover crop. Only physiologically ripe and healthy grapes are processed through selective manual harvesting.
The quality pyramid is divided into the three lines of site wines, local wines and estate wines according to the house motto "The smaller the geographical origin, the more valuable the wine". The focus is on dry, terroir-typical wines with a lot of minerality. The cellar work is carried out according to non-invasive principles with as little intervention as possible and plenty of time for the wines to mature. The premium wines of the house are the Hochheimer Rieslings "vom Tonmergel" and "vom Kalkstein". Bottle-fermented sparkling wines, grape sécco and grape juices are also produced.
