2021 Retzbach Benediktusberg Spätburgunder VDP.Erste Lage trocken, Franconia/Franken, Germany

Somewhat developed, smoky, woody-spicy and leathery aroma of ripe black and some red berries with plummy notes, a hint of peat, oregano, undergrowth and black olives. Ripe, again slightly developed fruit with smoky and roasted wood flavours, delicate malty notes, some cola nut and hints of soot, good persistence on the palate, gains quite fresh juice towards the end, very good finish with a certain wood bitterness and dried herb notes.
