2020 Retzbach Benediktusberg Spätburgunder VDP.Erste Lage trocken, Franconia/Franken, Germany

Firm and with air gaining depth, moderately toasty and woody aroma of ripe black and red berries with a little bitter chocolate, smoke and molasses, cherry nuances, leather and hints of coffee grounds. Firmly woven, tangy fruit, slightly smoky, nutty and bitter chocolate tones, a hint of pepper, coffee and malt, a little herbaceous in the background, good persistence, bacony and mushroomy nuances, plus a little liquorice, a certain acidity, also clearly gains on the palate with air, becomes more differentiated, fresher and deeper, very good, firm, tart, smoky and still somewhat drying-woody finish.
