2018 Merlot trocken Réserve, Rheinhessen, Germany

Somewhat spicy, nutty and dried-vegetable to herbal scent of partly preserved predominantly black berries with nuances reminiscent of marzipan and cocoa, some raw meat and pepper. Tart, juicy, dark fruit with some spicy and nutty wood tones, fine sandy, still youthful tannin, quite good substance and persistence, dark chocolate and coffee in the background, not eternally deep, noticeable alcohol warmth, a touch of salt in the very good, slightly peppery finish.
