Editor note: Firm, smoky and very slightly herbal-vegetable, quite polished aroma of dark berries and cherries with fine spicy aromas and a hint of bacon. Tight, juicy and polished, ripe fruit, again smoky and peppery-spicy, herbal notes in the background, clearly salt, certain acid bite and youthful, present, yet fine tannin, lasting, compact construction, still barely developed, good depth, bacony nuances, lots of grip, very good, firm, juicy, spicy and mineral finish

One of the eight specific wine-growing areas in the Austrian province or generic wine-growing region of Lower Austria. It was formed in 1985 by merging the formerly independent wine-growing areas of Gumpoldskirchen and Bad Vöslau. In both places, grape seeds were found that date back to 700 and 900 BC respectively and can clearly be assigned to the species Vitis vinifera. The lifting of the ban on planting vines outside Italy by Emperor Domitian (51-96) by Emperor Probus (232-282) had a positive effect on viticulture. This...
