2017 Ried Ungerberg Merlot trocken, Burgenland, Austria

Clear, more black than red berry nose with a hint of juniper, tobacco and dried herbs. Tart, rather dark fruit, tobacco and slightly smoky, also nutty wood, youthful, fine sandy tannin, persistent, has power, meaty traces, a hint of dried tomatoes and black olives, a little pepper, very good finish with salty notes.

Best to drink: Mitte 2022 bis 2027+. What our ratings mean
