2023 Appenheim Riesling VDP.Aus Ersten Lagen trocken, Rheinhessen, Germany

Smoky to bacony and tart vegetal nose, slightly reminiscent of giant beans, with distinct herbal aromas, nutty spice and firm, tart, citrus-accented yellow-fruity notes. Ripe, firm, tart-juicy fruit, distinct herbs, smoke, bacon and giant beans, a little oregano, lively acidity and plenty of grip, persistent, slightly almondy-nutty, a hint of pepper in the background, also rather cold, chalky-salty to stony minerality, still undeveloped, very good, firm, tart finish, again with vegetal and smoky-bacon notes.
