2022 Ingelheim Spätburgunder VDP.Aus Ersten Lagen trocken, Rheinhessen, Germany

Herbaceous, quite firm and deep, somewhat Mediterranean-herbaceous scent of predominantly black berries with cherry aromas, a hint of beetroot, suggested smoky wood notes, and a touch of pepper. Ripe, fairly firm, dark, quite juicy fruit, smoky-roasted aromas, Mediterranean herbs, and again pepper, present, still slightly drying-sandy tannin, sweet-malty traces, warming alcohol, but also cooling minty and juniper notes in the background, a bit of salt, slightly drying in the otherwise very good, dark, somewhat preserved fruity and alcohol-warm finish.
