2021 Nierstein Hipping Riesling Grosses Gewächs trocken, Rheinhessen, Germany

Very tight, deep, tart, smoky nose of citrus fruits, citrus zest and a little vineyard peach with lots of dark spice in the background, floral tones, tobacco nuances, black and red berries, a touch of mustard seed and distinct minerality. Dense, grippy, juicy fruit with tart, somewhat nutty spice, mustard cabbage, kaffir lime, some pepper, oily nuances and plenty of salt, lively, very fine acidity, lots of grip from friable tannins, smoky nuances in the background, still completely undeveloped, multi-layered, deep and full of tension, extremely dense core, long, juicy, fresh-vegetable and enormously mineral finish with ethereal and smoky traces. Ends almost exclusively on minerality.
