The winery is located in the community of Johannisberg in the German Rheingau wine region. The family has been growing wine since 1685. Today, the estate is managed in the tenth generation by Johannes and Sabine Eser. The origin of the huge cellar, which is ten metres below the mountain, dates back to 1790. The vineyards cover 20 hectares of vineyards in the sites Kläuserweg (Geisenheim), Goldatzel, Hölle, Klaus, Schwarzenstein and Vogelsang (Johannisberg), Berg Roseneck, Berg Rottland and Kirchenpfad (Rüdesheim), as well as Hasensprung and Jesuit garden (Winkel). They are 99% planted with Riesling and somePinot Blanc. The majority of the wines are matured separately according to location in steel tanks and then mature in traditional wooden barrels. In addition to the quality wines, high quality wines such as Trockenbeerenauslese and Eiswein are also produced. Fine brandies (brandy) and bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced. The winery is a member of the VDP.
