The winery is located in Poysdorf in the north-east of the Weinviertel wine-growing region in Lower Austria. The first records of the history of the traditional winery can be found in 1729. Since 2001, the winery has been run by Andrea and Martin Hirtl. The vineyards cover 25 hectares in the Kirchberg, Rösselberg and Waldberg vineyards. 75% of the vineyards are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, Riesling,Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Gelber Muskateller, and 25% with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Blauburger and Merlot. The vineyards are cultivated using organic methods. For pest control, for example, the confusion method is used. The quality criteria in the vineyard are yield reduction through short pruning and thinning out.
After controlled fermentation with storage on the fine yeast and regular stirring, the white wines are matured in stainless steel, the red wines in barrique. The passion of the house is the Grüner Veltliner, which is predestined for the winegrowing region and is vinified in different variations. The premium wines include various Weinviertel DAC (Grüner Veltliner), the red wine cuvée "One in Red" (Zweigelt, Blauburger, Merlot) matured for 16 months in barriques, as well as the red wine "Merlot Reserve" matured for 30 months in new barriques. In years with suitable weather conditions, ice wines are also produced. Around 100,000 bottles of wine are produced annually, 20% of which are exported.
