Editor note: Cool, polished, somewhat planty to herbaceous and floral nose with light yellow fruity aromas. Slim, straightforward, sweetish fruit, light and tender, very fine acidity, good persistence, quite clear minerality in the background, quite elegant style, good to very good, fine juicy and mineral, again sweetish finish

The growing region is located in the state of Hesse in Germany. The vineyards cover 3,211 hectares of vineyards starting at the Untermain east of Wiesbaden and extending about 50 kilometers along the right bank of the Rhine to Lorch north of Rüdesheim. The wine route "Rheingauer Riesling-Route" runs along the right bank from Lorch to Hochheim. Emperor Charlemagne (742-814) is said to have had the first vineyard planted near today's Johannisberg Castle.
