The winery is located in the municipality of Schweigen (Südliche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Pfalz. In 1973, the family began marketing the wines themselves. Today, the winery is run by Friedrich Becker and Friedrich Wilhelm Becker. Gerard Paul is responsible as the manager. The vineyards cover 25 hectares of vines in the Schweigen single vineyard Sonnenberg in the Kammerberg, Sankt Paul and Wormberg sub-locations. About 60% is located over the nearby border in the French Alsace. They are planted with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Blauer Portugieser, Schwarzriesling (Pinot Meunier) and Merlot, as well as with the white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Silvaner, Auxerrois and Gewürztraminer.
In the spirit of environmentally friendly pest control in the vineyard, beneficial insects such as lacewings, predatory mites and ladybirds are used. The yield is extremely reduced by pruning the vines accordingly. The wines are matured separately according to variety and location in stainless steel or in oak barrels. The red wines are fermented in open mash fermentation. Particularly rich white and red wines are matured in French barriques. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines and noble brandies are also produced. The winery is a member of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates), as well as the Generation Riesling and "5 Winzer 5 Freunde" associations.
