The winery is located in the municipality of Göttlesbrunn in the Carnuntum wine-growing region of Lower Austria. It has been in the family since 1780. The winery is run by Franz Taferner and daughter Karoline. The vineyards cover 25 hectares in the Altenberg, Bärnreiser, Haidacker, Hagelsberg, Kräften, Rosenberg and Schüttenberg vineyards. The red wine varieties Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot account for 60% and the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Gelber Muskateller for 40%. The natural cultivation is carried out according to the guidelines of an integrated plant protection with duration cover crop and exclusive compost fertilisation.
The vinification is carried out in a gentle manner, with great emphasis on vintage and varietal typicity. The single-vineyard white wines Ried Schüttenberg Chardonnay and Ried Haidacker Chardonnay are fermented spontaneously in 600-litre wooden barrels and then mature for 12 months on the fine lees in the barrel. The other white wines mature in stainless steel tanks. The red wines mature for 10 to 18 months in barriques, where malolactic fermentation also takes place. The premium wines include the red wine cuvées "Excalibur" (Zweigelt, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon) and "Monument" (Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Merlot), the single-varietal red wine "Tribun" (Cabernet Sauvignon), and the white wine Chardonnay Haidacker. Frizzante and rosé are also produced. The winery is a member of the winegrowers' associations Rubin Carnuntum Weingüter and Traditionsweingüter Österreich.
