2011 Blaufränkisch trocken "Goldberg", Burgenland, Austria

Smoky, toasty, bacony, slightly sooty and earthy aroma of very ripe black berries with cedar and tobacco notes, a little liquorice and a hint of dried meat. Ripe, dark, quite juicy fruit, nutty and slightly coffee-spicy, rather dark wood aromas, a little bitter chocolate on the palate, peppery and dried vegetable to herbal notes, a little sooty, mineral tones in the background, some dusty and drying tannin that blends in quite well with air, some warmth, very good, juicy finish
