2017 Süd-Steiermark Reserve trocken "Kaltenegg", Styria/Steiermark, Austria

Firm and deep, somewhat smoky, nutty and vegetal to herbaceous nose of yellow fruit and a hint of lychee with floral notes, a hint of mussel shells, salted lemons and some yellow spice. Ripe, firm fruit with a slightly sweetish melt, fine acidity, some fine sandy tannin, spicy and nutty wood flavours in the background, dense and persistent, some depth, hints of caramel, vegetable oil and smoked salt, a hint of dried flowers, some varietal bitterness, increasingly mineral tones with air, very good, tart finish with grip.
