Relatively cool, somewhat vegetal to herbaceous and nutty scent of yellow fruit with nuances reminiscent of red berries, pine nuts and artichokes. Clear, bright citrus fruit with a delicately sweetish mellowness and a hint of pepper, lively acidity, delicate grip, certain persistence, salty and chalky tones, hints of lemon verbena and lard on a very good finish.
Common name in German-speaking countries for the Riesling, to clearly distinguish it from the (unrelated) Welschriesling. See also under Rhein.
