1972 Assmannshausen Höllenberg Spätburgunder Eiswein-Auslese, Rheingau, Germany

Dark amber with brown tones. Firm and quite deep, slightly bacony and mushroomy, also dried planty scent of partly dried yellow and a little red fruits, tobacco, dried flowers, hints of black berries and herbs. Taut, juicy fruit with vital acidity and moderate sweetness, nutty aromas, some candy and caramel, also a little tobacco, smoky traces, dense and persistent on the palate, grippy, good depth, clear, salty minerality, a hint of dried citrus zest in the background, a little yellow spice, certain frosty tones reminiscent of candied radish, a hint of tobacco, multilayered, gripping and long. Great and completely timeless.
