The winery is located in the municipality of Markt Harmannsdorf in the Austrian wine-growing region Vulkanland Steiermark. It used to be a former estate of the canons of Vorau Abbey. In 1913 the Lamprecht family acquired the property. After an eventful history with several owners, the estate came to a standstill. In 2006, the Lamprecht family reactivated it and planted new vines. The farm is managed by Gottfried Lamprecht. In the renovated old wine cellar various events such as wine tastings and culinary events as well as vineyard walks are offered.
The vineyards cover nine hectares of vineyards in the Buchertberg area. Here the red wine varieties Blaufränkisch and Blauburgunder(Pinot Noir), as well as the white wine varieties Weißburgunder(Pinot Blanc), Furmint, Sauvignon Blanc and as a special feature a Styrian blending set with over 70 rare and ancient grape varieties cultivated. These include Adelfränkisch (a Traminer descendant), Blauer Heunisch (variety Gouais Blanc) and White Orleans. Certified organic viticulture is practised. This includes the renunciation of herbicides, synthetic pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.
There is a self-imposed quality concept or seal of approval called "Herrenhof Charta", which is the basis for all activities in the vineyard and cellar. This includes the promotion of biodiversity (variety of species), yield reduction to a maximum of 45 hl/ha, spontaneous fermentation with the vineyard's own yeasts, vinification according to vineyard and vintage, no additives and minimal use of sulphur. The wines are produced in the stages estate wines as well as site and reserve wines. They all mature in traditional large oak barrels from our own forest. Fining and filtration are not used. The premium wines are "Buchertberg Weiß" (Styrian blend) and "Blaufränkisch Buchertberg". A Verjus is also produced.
