2004 Carnuntum Merlot trocken Quo Vadis, Lower Austria/Niederösterreich, Austria

Red and black berries on the nose, dried tomatoes and olives, hint of bread, light smoky notes and spicy oak. Full-bodied and spicy on the palate, slightly overripe fruit, roasted oak and cocoa, very creamy and has some substance, also clearly noticeable alcohol, sweetish spicy notes in the background, more roasted notes and chocolate on a good finish.

Editor note: Black berries and delicate floral notes on the nose, cool, smoky roasted oak,dried herbs as well as some cherries and plums. Full-bodied, initially prominent dark, sweetish roasted flavours, with aeration develops ripe black fruit, slightly rough tannins, creamy with high alcohol, quite good substance, the initially dominant oak retreats a little with aeration, fruity, alcoholic and roasted notes on the finish.
