Description to D.O. Sierras de Málaga
The DO area for red wines, rosé wines and white wines is located in the Provint Malaga in the Spanish region of Andalusia. It was classified in 2001 and geographically corresponds to the Malaga DO area. There is a sub-area called Serranía de Ronda. The climate is continental with cold winters and hot summers. The vineyards cover about 1,200 hectares of vines. The red and rosé wines are mainly blended from the Romé, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Tempranillo varieties, Garnacha Tinta, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Petit Verdot, Graciano, Malbec (Cot), Monastrell, Jaén Tinto and Blaufränkisch. The white wines are mainly made from Pedro Ximénez, Moscatel de Málaga (Muscat d'Alexandrie), Moscatel Morisco (Muscat Blanc), Chardonnay, Macabeo, Sauvignon Blanc, Lairén, Doradilla and Colombard, Montúa (Chelva), Gewürztraminer, Riesling, Verdejo and Garnacha Blanca.
