2019 Gutedel Landwein "Jaspis 10hoch4" Alte Reben, Oberrhein, Germany

Firm and deep, multilayered, still somewhat reductive, smoky, also yeasty aroma of ripe citrus fruits with nutty, herbal and light mineral notes. Tight, cool, tangy, noble fruit, present, fine acidity and grip of ripe tannin, yeasty aromas, some herbs, lots of salt, lasting, deep and complex, light wood spice, still completely undeveloped, very good to long, tight, tart finish with lots of grip and bite, lots of ripe juice and smoky spice. Must definitely mature further.

Editor note: Firm and deep, somewhat smoky, also clearly yeasty bouquet with restrained, cool citrus and pome fruit aromas, herbaceous-vegetable tones, light wood notes and distinct minerality. Taut and polished, juicy, tart light fruit with some melting, smoky notes, yeast and light wood, lively, very fine acidity, herbal-vegetable flavours on the palate, chalk and salt, dense and persistent, good depth, still very young, fine grip of friable tannin, ethereal traces, very good, firm, tart, grippy finish with fresh juice and draw. Still needs to mature.
Synonym for the grape variety Chasselas; see there.
