2020 Großkarlbach Burgweg Spätburgunder trocken, Pfalz, Germany

Firm, delicately smoky and slightly toasty aroma of ripe, partly preserved cherries and mixed berries with a hint of tar, meaty tones, nutty and slightly tobacco wood notes and a hint of juniper. Ripe dark fruit with smoky, bacon and slightly vegetal notes, crumbly-sandy, still slightly drying tannins, nutty tones, bitter chocolate and a hint of tar, again some juniper in the background, salty mineral tones, hints of soup herbs, some power, very good, if still slightly drying finish with some bitterness. Still needs a little time.
