2001 Sulzfeld Maustal Rieslaner Spätlese trocken ***, Franconia/Franken, Germany

Tart, spicy botrytis nose, with aromas of apricot preserves and citrus fruit. Citrus fruit in the mouth, with lively acidity and prominent botrytis character, powerful body, rich style, high alcohol evident on the palate, quite closed at this stage, good persistence, long, delicately juicy finish. Likely to improve with time.
