The winery is located in the municipality of Ihringen (Kaiserstuhl area) in the German wine-growing region of . It was founded in 1881 by Josef Fidel Stigler. Initially, it was used to cover the needs of his station inn in Freiburg. After the station and the Stiglers' home were completely bombed in 1945, Rudolf Stigler moved with his family to the weekend house in Ihringen and from then on devoted himself exclusively to winegrowing. Since 1991, the estate has been run by Andreas and Regina Stigler, already the fourth generation of the family. The vineyards cover ten hectares in the single vineyard sites (Oberrotweil), (Freiburg), as well as Fohrenberg and (Ihringen). They are planted with the varieties Pinot Noir, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Silvaner, Traminer, Müller-Thurgau, Sauvignon Blanc and Scheurebe. The winery is a member of the (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates)
