2018 Klingenberg Schloßberg Spätburgunder Grosses Gewächs trocken, Franconia/Franken, Germany

Slightly dried, root-vegetable and mushroomy, delicate bacony nose, black and red berries with cherry aromas, traces of pepper and juniper, celery, some bread crust, roasted onions, tobacco and liquorice. Tart, juicy, very slightly developed fruit with smoky and restrained roasted barrel notes, some tobacco, soup herbs, pepper and hints of juniper, salt and chalk in the background, a certain persistence, a hint of sour cherry, very good, relatively firm finish with tart juice, smoky notes, beetroot and marjoram.

Editor note: Firm, tart, still reductive scent of red and a little black berries with smoky aromas, some bacon and juniper as well as dried vegetal tones and a hint of bread crust. Clear, cool, polished, tart, juicy fruit, lively acidity and very fine, youthful tannin, persistent, has bite, slightly smoky and herbal-vegetal tones on the palate, a hint of beetroot, also tobacco nuances, good depth, mineral notes, very good, tight, fine juicy, cool finish with bite and slightly peppery spice and also again salty minerality
