Tart, vegetal, nutty and somewhat smoky pome fruit aroma with citrus notes and slightly bacony barrel tones. Polished, bone-dry fruit with quite lively acidity and grip of fine sandy tannin, somewhat smoky wood notes, vegetal and hinted mushroomy tones, good substance and persistence, quite firm structure, still undeveloped, quite clearly salty, very good, firm, tart, again smoky finish. Seems even firmer than the first sample and should be able to mature longer than originally assumed.

Best to drink: Mitte 2024 bis 2028+. What our ratings mean

Editor note: Slightly warm, nutty and a little tobacco-woody aroma with pome fruit and citrus notes, slightly vegetal aromas and a hint of pepper. Ripe, quite juicy and somewhat melting, yet quite dry fruit, relatively lively acidity, noticeable tannic grip, nutty, delicately woody and again peppery notes, herbal spiciness, salt in the background, good persistence, medium power, smoky traces, very good finish with juice, bite and tart spiciness.
