Editor note: Slightly hazy yellow-gold colour. Yeasty, light nutty and prominent vegetal notes on the nose, floral and earthy notes, initially a hint of cabbage. Prominent vegetal notes on the palate, yellow fruit becomes significantly more juicy with aeration, lively acidity, prominent yeasty notes, fairly moderate mousse, slightly sweetish and creamy, good persistence, light tannic grip, slightly muted, good to very good, increasingly juicy finish.

The production area is located in Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany and is named after the region. The name is derived from the historical affiliation existing from 1816 to 1919 as the province Rheinhessen of the Grand Duchy of Hessen. The vineyards cover 26,758 hectares, making it the largest German winegrowing area in terms of area.
