Firm, slightly herbal scent of ripe blackberries and a little sour cherry with floral nuances, cinnamon, some meat and delicate barrel tones. Lively, tightly knit, fresh, juicy fruit with some bite and fine, youthful tannins, partly Mediterranean herbs in the background, a hint of smoke, good persistence, chalky, salty minerality, some depth, peppery nuances, hints of wood spice, very good, animatingly juicy, cool, fresh and finely spicy finish. A pleasure.
Synonym (also Blauer Lemberger) for the grape variety Blaufränkisch; see there.
