The winery is located in the community of Fellbach (Remstal-Stuttgart area) in the German wine growing region of Württemberg. The traditional family has a 500-year-old winegrowing tradition. The first vintage under their own label was produced in 1997 from what was then a small vineyard of only three hectares. Today, the vineyards cover 24 hectares in the individual locations Lämmler and Goldberg (Fellbach), Götzenberg (Uhlbach), Mönchberg (Untertürkheim), Altenberg and Burghalde (Schnait) and Schlossberg (Rotenberg), as well as areas in the municipalities of Endersbach, Stetten and Strümpfelbach. They are planted with the red wine varieties Trollinger(Schiava Grossa),Pinot Noir, Pinot Noir, PinotMeunier, Lemberger (), Muskat-Trollinger, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, as well as the white wine varieties Riesling (25%), Silvaner,Pinot Blanc, PinotGris, Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
The conversion to organic viticulture, which has been practiced for years, was completed in 2016 with the certification. The quality criteria are narrow planting distances, low yields, foliage wall design and minimal use of plant protection products(herbicides) and fertilization. In some years, the selective manual harvesting of grapes in several passes with optimal ripeness extends over nine weeks. Gentle pressing is followed by spontaneous fermentation in principle. The white wines are matured in stainless steel as well as a quarter in wood, mainly in half-barrels (600 litres). The red wines are aged after the traditional maceration with long and biological acid reduction to 95% in wooden barrels from 225) to 1,800 litres; most of them in 300-litre barrels. Bottling is carried out, if possible without filtration. Fine spirits (yeast, marc, fruit) and bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced.
