2016 Escherndorf Am Lumpen 1655 Silvaner Grosses Gewächs trocken, Franconia/Franken, Germany

Firm, slightly herbaceous and a hint of smoky aroma with quite noble yellow-fruity and delicately nutty flavours as well as floral nuances. Very juicy fruit with fine cabbage-vegetable and also herbaceous flavours, some grip and very fine acidity, smoky nuances, persistent on the palate, medium strength, minerality and a little yellow spice, fine grip, nutty barrel tones, hints of butter, very good, quite firm, juicy and quite mineral finish. Becomes softer with air and should be drunk slowly.

Editor note: Fairly firm youthful nose, floral and light vegetal notes, pomaceous fruit and a touch of citrus, herbaceous and prominent mineral notes, delicate yeasty touch and some bread. Still fairly closed on the palate, muted ripe, juicy, bone dry fruit, very elegant, lively acidity, light touch of yeast and bread again, prominent mineral notes, prominent ripe grippy tannins, full body, has depth, remains fairly cool, hint of bacon in the background, very firm structure, long, taut finish with intense mineral notes. Definitely needs time to mature.
