2012 Mittelheim St.Nikolaus Riesling Grosses Gewächs trocken, Rheingau, Germany

Firm, deep and tart, almost slightly reductive nose with restrained yellow-fruity and cool vegetal aromas, floral nuances, distinct minerality and some herbs and smoke. Concentrated, warm, ripe, increasingly juicy fruit with air, herbal flavours, some candy and again a hint of smoke, very fine acidity, compact and persistent on the palate, nutty barrel tones, very slightly sweetish melting, deep, multi-layered and powerful, still seems young, intense, cooling minerality, a hint of dark berries, long, concentrated, juicy, herbal-spicy, slightly smoky and intensely mineral finish. Still does not appear to be fully developed.
