2022 Dernau Spätburgunder VDP.Ortswein "Blauschiefer", Ahr, Germany

Clear, firm, and very pure-toned, with a slightly peppery and meaty nose of red and black forest berries and a hint of cherries with herbal notes and a touch of juniper. Ripe, firm, juicy, relatively dense fruit, peppery, herbal, and again with a bit of juniper-etheric notes, very fine tannins and a bit of grip, persistent on the palate, some depth, a hint of mint, in the background salty and slightly chalky notes, a hint of forest floor, cooler and elegant character, quite complex, very good, firm, juicy, and again etheric-spicy finish.
