The wines keep constant high level and are usually the best in their respective category in the area. Weaknesses, there is little, but can occur in difficult vintages. However, this must be balanced in good years with particularly compelling assortments so that an operation can hold the status. In most cases you can blindly buy.

The winery is located in the community of Weisenheim am Sand (Mittelhaardt/Deutsche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of the Palatinate. The traditional family has been growing wine here since the 17th century. The first bottling was introduced by Willi Langenwalter in the mid 1960s. His son Klaus Langenwalter and his wife Renate gradually expanded the family business to 24 hectares of vineyards. In 2011 a newly built cellar was put into operation. After training as a wine technician in 2002, Thorsten Langenwalter joined the winery and now runs it together with his parents and wife Daniela. In 2010 the business of the parents-in-law was also taken over in the municipality of Freinsheim.

Today, the vineyards comprise almost 31 hectares of vineyards in the individual locations Altenberg, Burgweg, Goldberg, Hahnenberg, Halde and Hasenzeile (Weisenheim am Sand), as well as Musikantenbuckel, Oschelskopf and Schwarzes Kreuz (Freinsheim). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling,Pinot Gris, PinotBlanc and Chardonnay, as well as the red wine varietiesPinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. The cultivation is carried out according to environmentally friendly, aspects. These include greening, organic fertilization, the use of insecticides and pest control using confusing methods. Quality criteria are yield reduction through appropriate pruning, foliage care to ensure the right balance between foliage, grapes, ventilation and sunlight, and thinning out by around 50%.

The selective harvest is mostly done by hand in several passes. Only healthy and fully ripe grapes are processed quickly and, above all, very gently using the latest technology. The white wines are mostly fermented in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures of between 15 and 17 °Celsius to a fruity and pure tone. High-quality batches ferment partly in wood and barrique. The red wines are stored in large wooden barrels for just under a year after maceration. Complex, strong wines then mature for 12 to 24 months in barrique. Among the premium wines are Hahnen Weißburgunder and Altenberg Spätburgunder. 150,000 bottles of wine are produced annually, 15% of which are exported, mainly to the Netherlands and Denmark. The winery is a member of the Winzervereinigung Forum Pfalz.
