The winery is located in Assmannshausen in the German Rheingau wine region. The traditional company has a history of over 200 years. Today it is owned by the Wegeler-Drieseberg family. Dr. Tom Drieseberg is the managing director and Michael Burgdorf the estate manager. The vineyards cover more than five hectares. The sites Höllenberg (VDP.GROSSE LAGE) and Frankenthal (VDP.ERSTE LAGE) as well as Hinterkirch (all Assmannshausen) are planted with partly 50-year-oldPinot Noir vines from Burgundy. In the Schönhell site (Hallgarten)Pinot Blanc (Pinot Blanc) and in the Schlossberg site (Lorch) old stocks are cultivated with Riesling (both VDP.GROSSE LAGE). The wines are matured in a 60-meter-long natural rock cellar with almost 100% humidity. Riesling and Spätburgunder Blanc de noirs are fermented in steel without exception. The Pinot Blanc de noirs ferment and mature in new piece barrels made of local oak. The red wines are mainly matured in 300 litre barriques and are only filled after two years of barrel maturation. The Pinot Noir from the Höllenberg comes onto the market after three years of bottle maturity, the icon wine JUWEL only after four years. The winery is a member of the VDP (Verband deutscher Prädikatsweingüter).
