2019 Freinsheim Spätburgunder trocken "Glimmer", Pfalz, Germany

Tart, somewhat smoky-roasty and nutty aroma of predominantly dark berries with dried-vegetable to tobacco and earthy notes as well as tart barrel tones. Quite tightly knit, tart, juicy, youthful fruit with some acid bite and fine sandy tannins, nutty and slightly chocolaty wood spice, some bacon in the background, a little mushroom, good persistence, some power, citrus zest and salt in the background, delicate bitterness, not eternally deep, good to very good, tart, slightly drying finish.

Editor note: Quite polished and firm aroma of mixed berries and cherries with floral nuances, hints of mushrooms and herbal-vegetable hints and a touch of ash. Clear, straightforward, tart fruit, fine, youthful tannin, very slightly smoky aromas, some chalk and salt in the background, good persistence, yeasty nuances and a hint of soup herbs, quite taut, tangy finish with animating bite.
