2013 Portugieser trocken Reserve, Pfalz, Germany

Bacon on the nose, some dried meat, tobacco and herbaceous notes, black and red berries, some juniper, earthy notes. Fairly tart fruit on the palate, some toasted, smoky oak and bacon, peppery notes and cocoa, firm tannins, still slightly astringent, noticeable acid bite, earthy and salty mineral notes in the background, good substance and persistence, medium body, not particularly deep, more smoky oak and earthy notes on a very good finish.
