The winery is located in the municipality of Binzen (Markgräflerland area) in the German wine-growing region of Baden. It was founded in 1805 by Johann Jakob Krebs. Since 2023, the winery has been run by the seventh generation of the family, Maximilian Krebs, together with his parents. After gaining practical experience at other wineries, Maximilian Krebs trained as a viticulture technician for wine and fruit growing in Weinsberg. The vineyards cover eight hectares of vines in the single vineyard Sonnhohle (Binzen). They are planted with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir and Dornfelder, as well as the white wine varieties Gutedel (Chasselas), Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Müller-Thurgau. Great importance is attached to the preservation and use of natural resources in the cultivation.
Depending on the type of wine, the wines are matured in stainless steel tanks, in large wooden barrels or in barrique barrels. The product range includes the four lines "Johann Jakob"(spontaneously fermented, aged in wooden barrels, without filtration), "Numme nüt huddle" = Nur keine Eile (harvested late, aged for a long time), "Heimat" (wines with varietal and regional typicity) and "Es isch wie's isch" = it is what it is (basic wines for quick enjoyment). Sparkling wines are also produced (according to Méthode charmat in stainless steel tanks and bottle-fermented), Secco (semi-sparkling wine), non-alcoholic grape Secco, liqueurs (walnut and cherry) and noble brandies (grape, wine). The winery is a member of Vinissima Frauen & Wein and Markgräfler Weingüter e.V. & Weinbauverband.
