2022 Westhofen Morstein Spätburgunder VDP.Grosses Gewächs trocken "Felix", Rheinhessen, Germany

Firm, precise and deep, still clearly smoky and reductive, with air increasingly fine and differentiated aroma of red and black berries with some broccoli, pepper, hints of smoke and bacon, chanterelles, porcini mushrooms, some coniferous wood, tobacco, delicate floral aromas and a hint of beetroot. Ripe, still undeveloped, very juicy fruit with present, yet ripe and crumbly tannins, lots of smoke, some roasted wood, bacon and vegetal aromas reminiscent of beetroot, also a little aubergine on the palate, a certain acid bite, persistent, has power, but also finesse, lots of salt, good depth, warm and cool elements, complex and long with ripe juice and lots of spice on the finish. Exceptional; needs to mature.
