2012 Mittelheim St.Nikolaus Riesling Grosses Gewächs trocken, Rheingau, Germany

Quite a dense, fairly mineral nose of partly candied citrus fruit with peach notes, some herbs, nutty barrel notes and a hint of caramel. Firm, juicy, again partly candied, slightly warm fruit, fine acidity, grip of crumbly tannin and clear minerality, somewhat nutty and smoky on the palate, persistent, has power, a certain sweetness and melting, with tart tobacco tones, good depth, very good, sweetish-juicy finish with candy notes, minerality, again nutty barrel tones and tart, somewhat smoky spice.
