2018 Pinot Noir "Hommage à George", Rheingau, Germany

Tart, not completely clear, slightly spicy, somewhat nutty, malty and moderately woody aroma of more black than red berries and cherries with floral notes, a little dried root vegetables and juniper. Firmly woven, tangy fruit with some toasty, bitter chocolate and tobacco wood notes, noticeable acid bite and quite present, drying tannin, a hint of citrus zest, cubeb pepper, quite dense and persistent, clear minerality in the background, some depth, has power, just also some bitterish dried-mushy tones, a bit rustic type, very good, tart finish with dark juice, tart spice, bacon, resinous herbs and again noticeable acid bite and drying tannin.
