2020 Schweigen Sonnenberg Pinot Noir VDP.Erste Lage trocken "Herrenwingert", Pfalz, Germany

Festy, somewhat nutty, tobacco-like, and reminiscent of pencils aroma with black and blueberry notes, dried herbs, a bit of grilled beef, bacon, and cherries as well as slightly smoky wood spice and pepper. Quite firm, rather cool-feeling, bitter, juicy, concentrated fruit, present, yet fine and mature tannin, still yeasty notes, nutty and slightly coffee- and cocoa-spicy wood, lasting on the palate, a bit of ethereal spice, leaning towards minty and peppery, good depth, still barely developed, in the background salt, chalk, and iron, has energy, very good, tight, dense, and distinctly bitter finish. Needs to mature.
