2018 Schweigen Sonnenberg Pinot Noir Grosses Gewächs trocken "Steinwingert", Pfalz, Germany

Firm, a little meaty-animalic scent of ripe predominantly dark berries with some herbal spiciness, tobacco, coffee, black olives, Mediterranean herbs and a hint of tomato and pepper pulp. Tart, dark and firm in the mouth, still somewhat bitter, smoky to slightly sooty wood, present, yet relatively fine tannin, tobacco and somewhat earthy notes on the palate, juniper-like spiciness, lasting, has power, substance and depth, a hint of anchovies in the background, plus parsley, very slightly rustic type, raw-meaty tones, very good, firm, dark, still somewhat bitter finish with bite.
