2017 Monzingen Riesling trocken VDP.Ortswein "Halgans", Nahe, Germany

Firm, compact, deep, yeasty nose, prominent mineral notes, still rather closed, yellow fruit, hint of bacon, dried floral aromas, hint of yellow spice. Compact, concentrated and intensely tart and juicy on the palate, prominent yeasty notes, dried vegetal traces, hint of tobacco, dark berries, floral notes, partly candied citrus fruit, hint of pomegranate in the background, persistent, excellent depth, still virtually undeveloped, still quite massive, fiarly obvious character of origin, complex, again intensely mineral on a very good, concentrated, juicy finish. A worthy competitor for many Grand Crus.
