Rather tart, somewhat dried-herbal, slightly peppery and hinted smoky aroma of predominantly black berries and a little cherries with a hint of mint and dried mushrooms. Juicy, lean and cool, tart fruit with a slight acid bite, some bitter chocolate and nutty wood aromas as well as nuances reminiscent of laurel, still youthful, crumbly tannin, good persistence, salty and peppery tones in the background, also has a certain freshness, hints of coffee grounds in the good to very good finish.
Synonym (also Black Riesling) for the grape variety Pinot Meunier; see there.
