2021 Pinot Noir trocken Réserve, Rheinhessen, Germany

A rather firm scent of ripe black and red berries with cherry nuances, bay leaf, parsley, a hint of hibiscus, bread crust, and smoky-roasted wood notes. Ripe, somewhat preserved dark fruit, again a bit of smoky-roasted wood with chocolate notes, crumbly-sandy tannins, good substance and certain power, lasting on the palate, a bit of beetroot, mushrooms, and bacon in the background, chalky-salty tones, a touch of malt and bread crust, very good, only slightly drying finish, again with a bit of preserved fruit, chocolatey wood, and ethereal spice. Clearly better than the first sample.

Editor note: Nutty, leathery and slightly coffee-spiced scent of ripe, partly preserved black berries with a hint of root vegetables, tobacco aromas, tobacco ash and a touch of varnish. Vegetable and fatty in the mouth, bitter dark fruit with smoky wood notes, a bit of acidity, youthful, slightly drying tannin, mushroomy and vegetable nuances in the background, a bit of salt, blurs slightly with air, good, albeit slightly drying finish with smoky wood and a bit of furniture polish.
