The winery is located in the municipality of Trittenheim (Bernkastel area) in the German Moselle wine region. The family has been growing wine since the 17th century. After completing her viticulture studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Geisenheim, Eva Clüsserath, who works full-time in the office of the Palatinate VDP, took over responsibility for the winemaking in her parents' winery in 1998. Father Ansgar continues to take care of the vineyard management and mother Elsbeth takes care of the attached guesthouse and customer service. The vineyards cover almost four hectares of vineyards in the Altärchen and Apotheke (Trittenheim), Rosengärtchen (Neumagen) and Sonnenlay (Mülheim) sites. They are mainly planted with Riesling (3.4 hectares), as well as small portions of Pinot Blanc, Kerner and Müller-Thurgau. Already the first vintage 2001 of Eva Clüsserath caused a sensation. The fermentation is done with natural yeasts in traditional wooden barrels. Through long yeast storage, classic, terroir-accentuated Rieslings are created. About two thirds of the wines are dry. Since the 2003 vintage, the dry wines no longer carry predicate designations, but are marked with one to three "stars".
