The winery and estate bar Detlev Ritter und Edler von Oetinger "zum jungen Oetinger" is located in the community of Erbach in the German Rheingau wine region. The winegrowing tradition of the von Oetinger family in Erbach goes back to the year 1828. The foundation stone of today's business was laid in 1966 by Robert von Oetinger. Today the family business is managed in the third generation by Achim von Oetinger and his wife Julia. The vineyards cover 7.5 hectares of vineyards in the individual locations Hohenrain, Marcobrunn, Michelmark, Siegelsberg and Steinmorgen (Erbach), as well as Sandgrub (Kiedrich). They are 90% planted with Riesling, the rest with Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. We consistently practice environmentally friendly viticulture with, for example, greening and exclusive use of natural fertilizers.
Important quality criteria in the vineyard include targeted pruning, yield reduction, defoliation of the vines and exclusively selective manual harvesting. Controlled, cool fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks produces white wines with distinctive fruit aromas. The premium wines from the VDP-classified sites are marketed under the -M- Collection, which are produced according to the criteria of first crop. In years with suitable weather conditions, Trockenbeerenauslese and Eiswein are also pressed. About 50,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines, brandies and vinegar are also produced. The winery is a member of the VDP (Verband deutscher Prädikatsweingüter).
