2001 Nierstein Oelberg Riesling trocken, Rheinhessen, Germany

Citrus nose with some apple, hint of petrol and phenolic nots, some old oak. Clear fruit on the palate, elegant acidity, some more old oak, prominent tannins, slightly blunt, but has good substance, quite a good, long finish.

Editor note: Still closed at this stage, very firm bouquet with mineral notes, citrus fruits and peaches with just a hint of tobacco. Pure, delicately juicy fruit with quite crisp but delicate acidity, again slight tobacco notes on the palate, very persistent, still youthful, good length.
